5-year-old rescued after getting foot stuck in escalator
Stamford fire officials said that they rescued a 5-year-old boy who got his foot stuck in an escalator at the Stamford Town Center.
Deputy Chief Pat Tripodi says the fire department was called to Macy's around 8 o'clock Wednesday night.
The escalator automatically stopped once the boy's foot got caught.
Tripodi says when fire crews arrived, they shut off power to the escalator and used tools to free the child in less than an hour.
He says proper training by the fire department prevented this situation from getting worse.
Fire officials say the child was taken to Stamford Hospital and was treated and released.
