Bridgeport church sells building to an Islamic Community Center

The United Congregational Church of Bridgeport says it will start looking for a new home soon after it sold its building and property to the Bridgeport Islamic Community Center.
The two groups met yesterday after at the property on Park Avenue.
The Community Center says it has been looking for a building for more than two years as the Muslim community has been growing in Bridgeport.
Officials say existing social services at the building, which were coordinated by the Norma Pfriem Urban Outreach Initiatives, will continue.
News 12 is told the center will provide a place for Muslims to pray, worship and get together.

The sale is set to close in early May.
United Congregational Church will move temporarily to the Bessemer Center on North Avenue before finding a permanent home.
