Fire sparks in abandoned Bridgeport home

A fire in Bridgeport gutted a vacant home and spread to the houses on either side, fire officials say.

They say the fire sparked around 5 a.m. inside a building behind 158 Hanover St.

Officials say no one was injured.

The officials cause of the blaze is unknown at this time, but officials say squatters in vacant homes starting small fires to stay warm is a chronic problem around this time of year.
