DPW crews prepare roads for weekend snow
Crews spent most the day Friday treating the roads for forecasts of wintry weather this weekend, using a salt and molasses mixture.
Milford Department of Public Works Director Chris Saley says the concoction helps prevent spot freezing on the roads. It works better than sand that has been used in years passed.
Officials says plows will hit the roads within a few hours of snowfall.
"The goal is to put it down on the center line of the road and let it disperse over the road, and that's the process we use right now," Saley says.
He is asking people to park in their driveways so that plows can freely clear the road. He also urges drivers to stay home until the roads are cleared by the afternoon.
"Do us a favor, park in your driveway if you can," he says. "Stay off the street, so we can plow the roads. It makes the job easier."
