Bridgeport mayor declares snow emergency

Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim spent the day coordinating the response to the snowstorm Saturday after declaring a snow emergency.

After meeting with the staff at the Emergency Operation Center, Mayor Ganim banned parking on all snow emergency routes, and restricted roadway parking to the odd side of the street until further notice.

Vehicles parked in violation of the ban can be fined up to $100.

The city is urging the public to drive safely and to check on elderly neighbors.
