Suspect sought after home invasion in Stamford

Stamford police say they are searching for a suspect following a violent home invasion Tuesday morning.

Police say 20-year-old Chantel Brivett and at least one other person broke into the victim's Henry Street apartment around 12:30 a.m. Investigators say they had a gun and beat the victim.

Officials would not comment on what was taken from the home or a possible motive.

Police say the victim went to a downstairs neighbor's apartment for help once the suspects left. They say he was taken to Stamford Hospital to be treated for a head injury and is recovering at home.

Lt. Tom Barcello says the victim and suspect have known each other for years but doesn't know the extent of their relationship.

"We have some inclination of what is going on behind the scenes but that's something that we have to continue with our investigation," he says. "We can't just release a motive right now."

Police say Brivett will be arraigned Wednesday morning and faces several charges, including home invasion and conspiracy.
