Police: 3 suspects arrested following car chase
Bridgeport police arrested three suspects in violent drug-related crimes following a chase Wednesday night.
The arrests happened at Beechwood and Park avenues around 7:30 p.m.
Police were chasing a car when it crashed into a pole. The men inside the car then crawled out of the wrecked vehicle and allegedly fled police.
A police dog chased after one of the suspects, who was tackled and cuffed by an officer.
Officials say the three men who were inside the car were all wanted on violent drug-related charges stemming from crimes that had taken place in Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport.
Authorities arrested 20-year-old Tyreik Gant, 19-year-old Onaje Smith and 21-year-old Jaquin Morris.
Police say it was a case of three suspects versus three law enforcement agencies.
"By us collaborating with one another, meaning Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, we were able to put away individuals that are a menace to society and threaten the safety of the public," says Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez.
Investigators tell News 12 Connecticut that the suspects were driving a stolen car from Norwalk.
