Norwalk Health Dept. offers free HIV testing for Valentine's Day

The Norwalk Health Department offered free HIV testing Tuesday for Valentine's Day.

Health officials say the test is called "rapid testing," and was offered for free until 4 p.m. They say results only take 20 minutes, but if they were positive, the clinic would do a full blood test that takes about a week to come back.

"The staff had been discussing how Valentine's Day is a typical time to show your love and to tell people that you love how you feel about them," said Norwalk Health Department's Theresa Argondezzi. "Wouldn't it make sense to coordinate an HIV testing day around that kind of a theme?"

The Health Department also offers HIV and other STD testing for $10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
