Shays, McMahon go head-to-head in debate smackdown

A smackdown took place Thursday night between former Congressman Chris Shays and Linda McMahon, the former head of World Wrestling Entertainment.

The two faced off in a debate at the University of Connecticut. Both are vying for a U.S. Senate seat.

State Republicans have endorsed McMahon as their candidate, but Shays has received enough support to force a primary in August.

Shays criticized McMahon's role as an executive for WWE and compared her to Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy.

McMahon ignored Shays' criticisms and stuck to her message of being a job creator with a plan to cut middle-class taxes and grow the economy.
