Long-delayed Easton animal shelter may soon open

The new animal shelter in Easton may open soon after years of delays.
Construction on the shelter began in 2010 and was supposed to take six months, but construction was delayed due to contractor payment and insurance issues.
Easton First Selectman Tom Herrmann says that despite the delays, work is nearly complete and only a few small issues remain before animal control can move in.
A building inspector is expected to conduct an inspection next week that will allow the facility to begin housing animals.
