Fairfield residents back up boats, beach homes ahead of Sandy
Residents in Fairfield spent the day packing up their boats and beach homes in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy. Some Fairfield beach homes were significantly damaged last year during Tropical Storm Irene, and homeowners say they want to be prepared this time around. From beach homes to the marina, many used Saturday morning as an opportunity to prepare for the worst-case scenario. But while many were out taking precautions, others reeled in the chance to hit the waters one last time. Officials have issued a mandatory evacuation for Fairfield's beach areas. Residents must be out by tomorrow at 12 p.m. Officials ask residents to begin voluntary evacuations Sunday morning.
