Police: 2 men arrested for check fraud

Fairfield police say two men are facing charges for trying to cash thousands of dollars in bad checks at a bank.
Shareaf Brown and Shaylin Lewis were arrested for alleged check fraud at the Chase Bank in Southport Tuesday.
Police say the suspects got scared and took off just after 2:30 p.m. when a bank employee grew suspicious and said their checks were on hold.
Officers were able to track down the suspects since another employee gave police a description of the getaway car and the license plate number.
They say an alert Westport officer spotted the car on the highway and was able to stop the car with the assistance of state police.
Brown was arraigned Wednesday, and the judge set his bond at $50,000. Lewis posted his $100,000 bond Tuesday night.
