SHU hands out diplomas
Sacred Heart University celebrated more than 1,000 undergraduates who earned associate and bachelor's degrees and more than 900 graduate students this weekend.
Former Maine Sen. George Mitchell, who was the Senate majority leader, received an honorary degree from Sacred Heart.
Mitchell delivered the commencement address in the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. 
The former senator reminded graduates that hard work and putting others before yourself is the best way to succeed.
