Police identify body pulled from the water

Bridgeport police have identified the man whose body was found in a river.

Police say they pulled the body of Walter Ribot, 34, from the Pequonnock River near Knowlton Street Sunday afternoon.

Ribot's co-workers say he worked at Coastal Pallet Corporation on-and-off for years. Searchers found his body less than a quarter-mile away from the facility.

Officers say Ribot showed no signs of trauma.

The state medical examiner is performing an autopsy.
