A man posing as a water company worker allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a woman's home.
Police say it happened when the 89-year-old resident let a man inside her home in the area of East Main Street and Courtland Avenue in Stamford on Tuesday.
The homeowner says the man claimed he worked for Aquarion Water Company and needed to check the pipes.
Officials say after the man left, the woman discovered $50,000 was missing from her home.
Police spoke with an official at the Aquarion Water Company, who said the company did not send a repairman to the house.
