Sikorsky plans more job cuts
Job cuts continue today by Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft.

After they announced 500 job cuts in Poland, officials say they will also cut 1,400 jobs worldwide over the next year, including 180 in Connecticut.

The helicopter maker said Tuesday that it will also close its Bridgeport facility on South Avenue moving hundreds of those jobs to its Stratford headquarters next year.

The reason for the cuts is said to be a drop in demand for helicopters to service offshore oil rigs, along with the slowing of demand for some military products.
