Armstrong Court renovation approved by Greenwich RTM

The Greenwich Representative Town Meeting has denied an attempt by some homeowners to stop a renovation at Armstrong Court.
At a meeting Monday night, some residents said they had concerns about the impact of bringing in more residents and increasing the ongoing racial imbalance issues in some town schools.
Despite using a racial argument that schools in the neighborhood would have more minority students than in the rest of the town, the RTM approved a plan to proceed with a renovation using state funds for the public housing.
The chairman from the Housing Authority said the opposition to the upgrade failed to persuade the board.
Chairman Sam Romeo said they are hoping to hear from the state in the next several weeks about the funding so they can start breaking ground on the addition of 18 townhouses to the 60-year-old complex.
