Survey shows support for later school start times
Classes in Greenwich could start later in the morning after school leaders said Friday that they would consider the idea.
A new survey shows that parents and students overwhelmingly support later start times. The school district released the survey showing overwhelming support for pushing the start time back to as late as 8:30 a.m.
Currently, students at Greenwich High School start classes at 7:30 a.m.
The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends that high school classes start at 8:30 a.m. or later due to teenage sleep patterns.
Other local districts have also looked at later start times, but say changing the time could create scheduling conflicts at the schools.
