Funeral held for East Haven kids found dead
The funeral for two East Haven children who police say were killed by their mother was held Tuesday in New Haven.
Daaron and Aleisha Moore were found dead by their father, Michael Moore, of Bridgeport, two weeks ago in their mother's home. Their funeral was held at Varick Memorial AME Zion Church.
People who attended the funeral say they are heartbroken over the deaths of the 6- and 7-year-olds, but will continue to pray for their family.
Friends and family recalled Daaron's smile and Aleisha's fondness of the TV show "Team Umizoomi." They say Daaron would escort his younger sister to her kindergarten classroom before heading off to his own class.
Ruthi Minick, the children's former babysitter, says she has nothing but good memories of the children.
Police initially eyed natural gas as a factor in the children's deaths. It had filled the home where they were found dead, but investigators have not yet released an official cause of death.
Police charged their mother, Leroya Moore, with murder.
