Police say a teenager was sent to the hospital after being shot early Saturday morning in Bridgeport.

The shooting occurred at around 1:15 a.m. at Stillman and East Main streets. Investigators say officers patrolling the area heard the shots and later found a 16-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.

Police say multiple shots were fired at the victim, who was struck once. Multiple shell casings were found at the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries not expected to be life threatening.
