AAA: Low gas prices fuel July Fourth travel
Americans were on the move across the country Friday, traveling to visit family or take a vacation for the Fourth of July.
AAA says travel is up this year, and gas prices are down by about a dollar a gallon compared to last summer.
That amounts to about a five-year low for July Fourth motorists.
The automobile association also said Friday was expected to be the busiest day on the roads.
Travelers at the Interstate 95 rest station in Darien said they were heading to New Hampshire, Maine or Boston for Independence Day weekend.
Experts and motorists alike attributed the low gas prices to the high amount of traffic on the highways.
