Milford planning board votes down complex proposal

Opponents of a controversial plan to build almost 200 new housing units in Milford celebrated Tuesday after the Planning and Zoning Commission voted down the move in an 8-2 vote.
The proposal would have built 180 new housing units on Wheeler's Farm Road. Of those, 50 would be designated as affordable housing units.
Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the commission's meeting, awaiting the vote's results.
Opponents say the roads are already congested in the area, and such a large influx of new residents would make for a more dangerous commute. They fought against the plan since April.
