Animal shelters quarantined in Fairfield, Bridgeport
Fairfield and Bridgeport officials joined Wednesday in ordering a quarantine of their animal shelters amid an animal virus outbreak.
News 12 reported last week that a Bridgeport Animal Control facility was temporarily closed due to canine parvovirus.
Officials say they hope to stop the spread of the highly contagious animal virus.
According to Animal Control officials, canine parvovirus has affected four dogs in Fairfield and 53 dogs in Bridgeport.
Officials say there will be no adoptions or admissions to any of the shelters until the virus is contained.
