Police: Mother's car hits 3-year-old in driveway
Stamford police say a little girl was airlifted to Yale-New Haven Hospital Tuesday after being hit by a car in her family's driveway on Pine Hill Avenue.
Police say the 3-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries.
The girl's mother had just returned from grocery shopping and was unloading the car, according to investigators. The vehicle was still in gear and rolled down the driveway, hitting the child, police say.
Investigators say they have not yet interviewed the mother, who flew alongside the child in the medical helicopter.
Police say a 20-month-old boy was in the car at the time of the accident. He is currently with his father.
