6-year-old dies in Route 8 crash in Shelton

State police say a 6-year-old child is dead after a three-car crash on Route 8 in Shelton.



According to police, the child was a passenger in a Chevy Tahoe when the driver slammed into the car in front of it after two cars stopped ahead for traffic. Firefighters say the Tahoe rolled over, and the child was ejected down an embankment.



Officials say the crash happened around 3 p.m. yesterday between exits 11 and 12. Several people involved in the crash were hospitalized.
