Bridgeport begins demolition plan focused on blighted properties

Demolition is underway in Bridgeport as crews work to take down blighted properties across the city.

Crews tore down an abandoned building on Park Street yesterday.

City officials say once abandoned and neglected properties are torn down, new, energy-efficient homes can be built.

They say these projects provide a better quality of life for residents.

City leaders say they often work with Habitat For Humanity to build new homes on the leveled sites.
