A soldier from Orange is making history this week by becoming one of the first two women to graduate the Army's elite Ranger School.
The family of 26-year-old Capt. Kristen Griest says she will graduate Friday.
Griest graduated Amity High School in Woodbridge in 2007. She was captain of the track team.
Former teachers say she was a tenacious leader and that they always saw determination in her.
She attended West Point and then moved up the ranks to captain, and eventually, weeks of intense training at Ranger School.
Griest's family says she is happy, relieved and ready for a good night's sleep after weeks of tough work.
