Ganim: Residents fed up with old parking meters
Bridgeport mayoral candidate Joe Ganim says that Park City locals have had enough of the antiquated parking meters in the area.
Ganim says that he has received hundreds of complaints over the past few months about the old meters, which must be fed with quarters.
He says residents are demanding that city officials install modern meters that accept credit cards, similar to the meters installed in New Haven.
Mayor Bill Finch says he's well aware of the complaints and that his administration is aggressively working to rectify the problem.
Finch says the newest meters will be synched to the Internet and will allow residents to pay with cash, credits cards or their smartphones.
Ganim and Finch tell News 12 that new-generation parking meters will help downtown business owners.
