Nonprofit builders replace doors at food pantry

A group of builders from across southwestern Connecticut spent Thursday fixing up a food pantry in Bridgeport for no charge.
Father Skip Karcsinski, of the Blessed Sacrament Food Pantry, said the local nonprofit group Needs Clearing House arranged for another nonprofit group, the Building Hope Foundation, to perform some much-needed tasks.
The nonprofit replaced rusted and broken basement doors, which led to the storage area in the pantry's basement. Karcsinski said the repairs will save them time and money.
"I feel proud that we're able to provide all this food through those doors and to help the good people of this neighborhood," said Andrew LaSala, of the Building Hope Foundation.
