74-year-old Norwalk man severely injured by fallen tree branch

Police say a 74-year-old Norwalk man was seriously injured Thursday after a tree branch struck him in the head. Friends say he is now fighting for his life.

Police say the incident occurred when the man placed a sign warning others about the branch located on his Rowayton Avenue property. They arrived on the scene at about 10:30 a.m. to find the man lying on the ground with a large cut on the back of his head.

Officials say that the branch fell about 40 feet before striking the man in the head, temporarily rendering him unconscious.

They say he was transported to Norwalk Hospital with a serious head injury. Friends of the family believe he is critical condition.
