Nation pays tribute to 9/11 victims at Ground Zero

Thousands packed Ground Zero today as New York and the rest of the nation paid tribute to the 2,977 people who lost their lives in the terror attacks on 9/11.

Thursday morning was filled with the reading of the victims? names, punctuated by moments of silence for when each plane was hit and each tower fell.

For some, the pain is still strong, and some were overwhelmed at the sight of their loved ones? names engraved at the memorial site.

The World Trade Center Memorial Plaza in lower Manhattan was open only to victims' family members during the day.
