Stratford police officer placed on administrative duty after shooting man
Stratford police say an officer has been placed on administrative duty after shooting a suspect while serving a search warrant Friday.
They say the incident occurred at 25 Yarwood St. around 5:30 a.m., where police and SWAT were serving a search warrant related to a lengthy narcotics investigation.
They say the suspect approached an officer with a hammer and disobeyed orders to stop.
Police say the officer fired one shot, wounding the suspect.
Investigators say the suspect was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Stratford police say state police have taken over the investigation and are working with local law enforcement to determine the events that led up to the shooting.
