A Bridgeport mother is asking for the public's help after her 10-year-old daughter died suddenly from an asthma attack in her sleep.
The family of 10-year-old Nyshell Petree says the child was a fifth-grader at Dunbar School and passed away at Bridgeport Hospital Tuesday morning.
They say Nyshell suffered from asthma her entire life, but they never dreamed it would take her life so suddenly.
The family says she was overcome by the asthma attack while she was sleeping, and they rushed her to the hospital in their own car, but it was too late for doctors to save her.
They are currently trying to raise money for her funeral expenses.
