Bridgeport police say a 10-year-old girl is in critical condition this afternoon after being hit by a car.
The accident happened on South Avenue near Iranistan Wednesday afternoon.
Police say witnesses told them the girl was riding a bike on the sidewalk when she veered onto the street.
Officials say she is at Yale New Haven Hospital with a major head injury.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene.
