Candidates face off in Milford mayoral race
Candidates running for the position of Milford's mayor took part in a debate Tuesday night.
The debate was held at the First United Church of Christ and featured incumbent Mayor Ben Blake against Republican and former Alderman Paula Smith.
Both candidates answered questions about their plans for downtown Milford.
"We are looking to bring back some type of downtown grocery, a Whole Foods-type store," said Mayor Blake, "something that with 400 new parking spaces we can achieve."
Challenger Smith had a different answer. "I'm more concerned about filling the commercial spaces we have along the main corridors and until we become more business friendly and more welcoming to folks in town, we will still have a problem," said Smith.
