State: Bill Finch not allowed on November ballot

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch's re-election hopes have suffered a major blow.
Finch had announced he would run under the Jobs Creation Party after losing the Democratic primary.
The Secretary of the State's Office now says that party will not be allowed on the November ballot.
State officials say the party missed a Sep. 2 deadline to endorse a candidate for mayor, meaning they cannot put someone on the ballot now.
Finch has the option to be a write-in candidate or replace another party-endorsed candidate who withdraws.
Finch's staff and campaign didn't respond to a request for a comment.
Democratic mayoral candidate Joe Ganim says it's time for Finch to step aside and let the party to unite.
