Students rescued from row boat on Long Island Sound
Three students, including one from Fairfield University, are safe after being rescued from their row boat when gusty winds created rough seas on the Long Island Sound.
Fairfield firefighters say they got a distress call at 4 p.m. Monday from a cell phone on the boat.
The three girls did not have life jackets and were unable to paddle back to shore due to strong currents.
Officials say the three girls were extremely lucky that they had the phone to call for help.
