Stamford man fights for his life after shooting

Stamford police are investigating a shooting that left a local man in critical condition Tuesday.
Police say the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on the corner of Liberty Street and Stillwater Avenue. They say the man was shot in the chest, narrowly missing his heart.
Police say the suspect walked up to the victim and shot him in the chest. They say the victim then ran to the hospital where he had emergency surgery.
Officials believe the victim was targeted, and say it may be connected to other recent crimes in the area.
They say there have been several shootings and shots fired in the area between Connecticut Avenue and Spruce Street.
Investigators are hoping surveillance cameras will aid them in their search.
"We do have a lot of video in the area, so that's why we're trying to compile it today and hopefully we're going to be able to get video of the incident," says Lt. Diedrich Hohn.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Stamford Police Department.
