Westport residents take part in ‘Green Day’

Residents of Westport took part in a community-wide event called Green Day on Saturday to celebrate sustainability efforts in the area.
Organizers of the daylong event said they hope to build awareness on how to protect the environment and natural resources.
Several of the day's activities took place at nature discovery center Earthplace, where people learned about environmental concerns along the Long Island Sound.
Organizers say that Green Day's "up-close" approach with the environment helps make a deeper impact on participants.
"What's important is to have these conversations all year-round and to be thinking what more you can be doing," said Alicia D'Anna, of Westport.
The day ended with a viewing of the film "Who Killed the Electric Car?" hosted by the Westport Cinema Initiative.
