Police: Body washes up on Stratford shoreline

Stratford police say the body of a woman washed ashore Monday morning near First Avenue and Beach Drive.

A 911 call reporting the body was made around 9:30 a.m. Police say it has been difficult pinpointing the victim's age, but they believe she was between 30 and 50 years old. They add that a cellphone was found on the body.

Marine units from Bridgeport and Stratford responded to the scene. Chopper 12 was above the seawall as police taped off and secured the area.

Police say they are now working with surrounding agencies to check if anyone has recently been reported missing.
