The Department of Children and Families in Milford is scheduled to reopen Wednesday as state police investigate a suspicious white powder found there Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say the substance is being sent to the state Department of Public Health for further analysis, but initial tests show the powder was not hazardous.
State police say employees found the powder in two containers inside a package that had been mailed to the office from another country.
Officials say one of those containers had broken and the powder was exposed.
Police say they quarantined employees as a precaution.
