Police: Decapitated chickens found at Stratford park
Stratford police say a resident found three decapitated chickens that may have been killed as part of a ritual at a park.
The headless hens were discovered on a rock Wednesday morning at Roosevelt Forest. Up the path from that spot, police say an officer found another decapitated chicken buried with two eggs. Burnt cigars and white candles were also found.
Police say they believe the animals were killed just a short time before they were found.
The act may be protected under the Constitution if deemed to be part of a religious ritual.
Police say whoever is responsible could be charged with littering in addition to trespassing, as all town parks close at dusk.
