Annual walk raises boating safety awareness in honor of teen
Friends and family came together Sunday to honor the life of a teen who was killed in a boating accident, while also raising awareness for marine safety.
Hundreds participated in the EMSWay Walk for Safety at Tod's Point in Greenwich for Emily Fedorko, who died at 16 years old in 2014.
The annual walk and the Emily Catherine Fedorko Foundation were created by Emily's parents to keep the teen's memory alive while raising awareness for boating and water safety.
At the event, free life vests were handed out to all those who participated in the walk.
Fedorko died in August 2014 when she was struck by the propeller of a boat towing her and two other girls on Long Island Sound.
