Family’s fundraiser hopes to provide getaways for children with cancer
A Bridgeport couple is raising money for families who have dealt with pediatric cancer, just like they did.
The couple hosted an event at SportsCenter of Connecticut in Shelton to help provide getaways for families with children battling cancer. The $25 price of admission will go toward a $25,000 goal, and the cause is named after the couple's 2-year-old daughter Lauren Irene Vieira.
News 12 reported on Vieira's battle with leukemia one year ago. Her cancer is now in remission.
"We know how important it is to kind of have some time away and to reset your morale," says Dan Vieira, Lauren's father.
The family hopes that their child's victory over cancer can help others when they need that help the most.
