Sen. Richard Blumenthal pushes for federal funding in train safety
Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he will be working with lawmakers this week to approve a bill that would provide nearly $200 million in federal funding for train safety.
Blumenthal says the money would provide GPS on Metro-North and Amtrak trains, and would stop derailments like the one that happened in 2013 in the Bronx. Four passengers were killed and 51 people were hurt in that crash.
Blumenthal says the funds are essential and could save lives.
