School dance canceled over lack of chaperones

A principal canceled her Bridgeport school's end-of-the-year dance over a lack of chaperones, she says.

Parents of the Wilbur Cross School eighth-graders say they're disappointed after buying dresses and outfits for the event that the children will no longer have an occasion to wear.

The school's principal says she couldn't find enough staff members to chaperone on Friday.

The principal says the students who would have been eligible to attend the dance can attend a breakfast next Tuesday that had been planned for honor roll students and students with perfect attendance.
