Special Olympics Summer Games kick off at Southern Connecticut State University
Crowds of people lined the streets of Wilton Friday morning to cheer on the start of the Special Olympics Summer Games.
Runners carried the torch through the town before a kickoff event at Southern Connecticut State University. The games began Friday and will run through Sunday, and athletes from across southwestern Connecticut are participating.
Among the 73 teams from across the state that are taking part are the athletes of Our Vision Westport. The team has practiced twice a week at Wilton High School for the past several months to prepare for the Summer Games.
