Danbury woman who drowned baby asks to be released from prison early
This week, the state will consider whether a Danbury woman who admitted to drowning her newborn baby in a toilet should be released from prison early.
Panna Krom is serving 18 years in prison.
In 2008, she pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Authorities say Krom delivered the baby in a bathroom at home and hid the child's body in her closet.
Krom, who is now 26, argues that her sentence is excessive and she could be an asset to society.
She is asking that the remainder of her sentence be replaced with five years of probation.
