One person was killed and another was injured in a two-car crash in Bridgeport Sunday morning.
The crash happened around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Main Street and Fairview Avenue in front of St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Police say the driver of one vehicle, a Bridgeport man in his 60s, was driving 100 mph on Main Street. They say the other driver involved, a man in his 20s, was driving down Fairview Avenue when the collision occurred.
Officials say the man in his 20s was ejected from his vehicle upon impact and died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle survived with several injuries.
"He sustained multiple injuries," said Chief A.J. Perez. "Broken back, broken elbow, broken arm, but he's still alive and talking."
Police say the speeding car struck a utility pole before landing on its roof. A nurse says he rushed to the vehicle and pulled out the driver.
"It's difficult," said City Councilwoman Jeanette Herron. "When you get that call that someone's passed away, you think of your family."
Perez says fatal accident teams from Trumbull and Monroe are working with his investigators to figure out exactly what happened.
The identities of both drivers have not yet been released.
