Bridgeport police announced this morning they have made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that killed a local woman.
Sandra Vilsaint, 31,was struck by a car while crossing Barnum Avenue near the intersection of Elizabeth Street on February 10.
Police say she died two days later.
They say they charged 26-year-old Jerry Goncalves, of Stratford, who they say sped up at a yellow light and when he hit Vilsaint the light had turned red.
Police say Vilsaint was not in the crosswalk at the time.
They say Goncalves also had two warrants out for his arrest in Stratford.
